Stock market. EU STOCKS slip ahead of U.S. housing data

European stock markets moved mostly lower on Tuesday after the prior day’s gains, as investors awaited data on the U.S. housing market and consumer confidence.

The Stoxx Europe 600 index dropped 0.1% to 323.85, partly erasing a 0.4% gain from Monday.

Among country-specific indexes, France’s CAC 40 index slipped 0.38%, while the U.K.’s FTSE 100 index gave up 0.39%. Germany’s DAX 30 index retreats 0.06%.

In UK the focus is on the report that tomorrow may show the U.K. economy expanded for a third quarter in the three months through September. Britain’s gross domestic product rose 0.8% in the third quarter after growing 0.7% in the previous three months. That would confirm a report released on Oct. 25.

Shares of Rémy Cointreau SA slid 7.2% after the spirits maker warned that slower sales in China will hit profits considerably this year. The French firm also reported a 20% drop in net profit in the first six months of its financial year.

Luxottica Group SpA gave up 2.2% after Berenberg cut the firm to hold from buy.

Britvic PLC gained 4.6% after the U.K. soft-drinks maker reported a 28.1% increase in full-year pretax profit.
